Changing System Configuration without Loading Software
Last Edited 2001-11-08 10:55:22
Product: Synchron CX
Chapter:          CX PRO
Section:                  QNX 4.0 - CX PRO Console

Summary Synchron system configuration can be changed by either loading software or via QNX.  The QNX procedure is described below.
Procedure The function set_dinstr provides the same function as set_instr for QNX version 2.0.  This function allows the field engineer to change system type (CX7, CX5, CX4), language, and chemistry configuration without loading software.  Unlike the CX function, all files required by this function are located on the hard drive.
LIMITATIONS This procedure should only be used during installation.
Reason:  This procedure sets the database to the original default database (Software Set: v6.0.10.77 or Synchron Console: v6.0.00.03).  However, if a chemistry update has been performed, the software is not notified the original database is in use.  The operator will have incorrect chemistry database information displayed on the System Parameters screen.  This limitation currently exists with the set_instr function used on the Synchron CX product line.

 Step Action
1 Break the boot sequence to access QNX.

2 Change to the /cx7/bin directory by typing:

  cd   /cx7/bin   <Enter>
3 Start the configuration change by typing:

  set_dinstr    <Enter>
4 The following information appears on the screen:

Continuing with the program will clear metering information
Do you still wish to continue? (y/n)

If y was selected and metering was not initialized, the following messages will appear on the screen:

/cx7/bin/meter*.dat: No such file or directory  Message appears if metering wasn't initialized.
Please wait.  Getting original instrument settings.

  Starting setup task.........

  Metering has been disabled
  CURRENT SELECTIONS:

Information displayed at this time will depend on current console configuration.  Settings below represents CX PRO default console configuration.

6 When configuration has been changed, exit set_dinstr by entering 5 Exit.

If the serial number was changed, the following message will appear on the screen.

  Re-starting setup task ...
  Updating the serial number
  Please wait.....

The following message always appears when exiting this function:

If operation has completed successfully then please reboot the instrument.
If the operation failed, please see the manual for further instructions.
7 To prevent a Fatal Note regarding the metering data from occurring during boot, type the following command:

  rm    setup_data3  <Enter>
8 If the original CE/Delta console had Software Set 6.2 or higher installed, return to the console setup procedure to copy alignment data from the backup diskette to the hard drive via QNX.

If the original CE/Delta console had Software Set 5.X installed, type exit and press the <Enter> key at the QNX prompt and the boot process will pick up at the blue copyright screen.

进入QNX的方法

Accessing QNX
Last Edited 2001-11-10 06:00:23
Product: Synchron CX
Chapter:          CX PRO
Section:                  QNX 4.0 - CX PRO Console

Summary This document describes 4 methods for accessing QNX on the CX PRO console.
 Breaking Boot
 Alternate Screens
 QNX Boot Disk
 Via Ethernet Connection
Breaking Boot QNX is easily accessed by breaking the boot sequence.  Breaking the boot for the CX PRO console (QNX 4.0) differs from the CX DELTA console (QNX 2.0).

 NOTE:
Read the instructions below before trying to break boot for the first time.  Failure to read the instructions before following them will likely result in failure to break the boot process.
 Step Action
1 If the system is booted, initiate System Idle and Shutdown the console.
 2 Power on the console.
3 After the console has performed a consistency check, the following message appears on the screen

  Press Esc for alternate OS..........

Shortly after this message appears, the console begins initializing and several lines of information will appear on the screen.  When the initialization process is almost complete, the engineer will have an opportunity to break the boot to access QNX.

When the following lines appear at the BOTTOM of the screen, the engineer can break boot by typing cx7 and then pressing the <Enter> key.
  >>>Executing .profile <<<stty:not found
  Initializing...."

Step 3a shows the information which will appear on the screen during console boot.

  NOTE:
/cx7 will NOT break the boot on a CX PRO.
3a Information which will appear on the screen during console boot is given below:

  >>>>Executing  sysinit.1<<<<<
QNX path '/dev/cd0' adopted as CDROM drive '/mnt/cd0'
  DISK '/dev/ram' contains 12288 blocks (6144K)
QNX device '/dev/fd0' adopted as DOS drive '/dos/a'
  >>>>Executing sysinit.cx<<<<<
  >>>>Executing sysinit.tz<<<<<
  Checking current date
  >>>>Executing any local commands<<<<
  >>>>Verify root file system for consistency<<<<
  RAM size
Comparing new bitmap to old and checking released blocks
  >>>>login devices<<<<
several lines relating to TCPIP are written to the screen and then overwritten at this time
  >>>>Executing sysinit.cx<<<<
  >>>>Executing .profile<<<<stty:not found
  Initializing......

At this time, the engineer has 10 seconds to break boot by typing

cx7    then press the <Enter> key.

  NOTE:
/cx7 will NOT break the boot on a CX PRO.
4 If the boot was successfully broken, the # prompt will appear on the screen.  When finished working in QNX, cycle power on the console to reboot the system.

  NOTE:
When the # prompt appears on the screen, you are in QNX.  No additional login is required.  Proceed with the desired QNX instructions.
5 If the blue Copyright screen appears, the boot was not broken.  Allow the system to boot the Standby and retry this procedure.
Alternate Screens QNX can be access via alternate screens.  The procedure below describes the recommended method for access QNX via alternate screens.  The following procedure presumes the console is booted and the operating software is running.
 Step Action
1 On the CX PRO console, Use Ctrl-Alt-x (see below) or use the <Ctrl> and <-> keys or the <Ctrl> and <+> keys to cycle to an alternate screen.  The QNX screen is characterized by the login prompt.

  Ctrl-Alt-x cycles to the following screens, where x = 1, 2 or 3:
  1.  Host (Normal/Master screen)
  2.  QNX screen
  3.  Debug screen (shows SCSI bus transactions)
2 At the login prompt, enter service (CX DELTA型号为/service 区分大小写) followed by the <Enter> key.
3 When prompted for a password, enter debug (CX DELTA型号为/debug 区分大小写) followed by the <Enter> key.
If login was unsuccessful, reenter login and password.
4 Following the QNX commands specified in the procedure of interest.
5 When the QNX session is complete, type the following command to logout of QNX:
